A Day Without You

My eyes slowly open,
Arm reaching for you,
Brain finding you gone,
As my heart starts to race,
At the thought of your face,
Last night on my pillow,
Whispering softly in my ear,
And now, you are gone.

But I feel you still,
Easing the chill,
I carry you with me,
Your heart in mine,
The touch of your love,
Carries me through,
As I spend my whole day,
Thinking of you.

This poem was written the day after a long telephone call where I almost fell asleep listening to the sweet voice of my darling. I woke, slowly and sadly realising that she was still far away.
